Palms English Minute – It’s poke time!

Ingredients

  • Fresh ahi tuna – about a pound
  • Salt
  • Ginger
  • Red onion and Green onion
  • Sweet bell pepper
  • Soy sauce – about 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil – about half a tablespoon
  • Pepper flakes (optional)
  • Spicy serrano or Thai pepper (optional)

You can add other ingredients to your poke. For example, oyster sauce, mayonnaise, avocado, crushed macadamia nuts, sesame seeds, anything you like!

Recipe
First, cut up the tuna into bite-size pieces (not too big, not too small) and put them in a bowl.
Next, finely chop some ginger.
Then, dice the red onion and bell peppers, and slice the green part of the green onion.
Add everything to the bowl.
After that, add a pinch of salt, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix everything well, but be gentle with the tuna. Add the pepper flakes and spicy peppers if you wish, and mix them in.
Finally, taste the poke and adjust the seasoning. You might need to add more salt, soy sauce, or sesame oil. This is up to you. You’re the chef!
You can eat poke on its own, as a side dish, or on top of rice.

When giving instructions in English, we use:
First, Next, Then, After that, and Finally.
We always start with First, and we usually end with Finally.
The other three words:
NextThen, and After that, all mean the same thing. So it doesn’t matter the order that you use them.
HOW TO ENJOY YOUR FRESH POKE:
First, make some white rice.
Then, add hot rice to a bowl.
After that, top your rice with some poke.
Finally, grab your chopsticks and enjoy!.
